NIA IMANI SOYEMI (Equity, SAG) starred as Little Inez in Broadway's Tony award-winning "Hairspray." She appeared on the big screen in Stephen Frear's "Dirty Pretty Things" and on television in "Law & Order: SVU," "Between the Lions" and on "Maury Povich." Some commercial credits include American Express, Citibank, NYSE, Staples, VH1's Save the Music, Cablevision's Optimum Online and public service announcements such as NBA's Read to Achieve, Parkinson's Foundation, New York Ad Council and Netaid. Her print credits include Gap Kids, and stock photography for Digital Vision and Comstock. Stage credits include the role of Claudine in the Off-Broadway musical "The People Garden," written and directed by Paul Armento; the role of Bottom in Midtown West's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and as Puck in the same production for the New York Theatre Alliance, directed by Maggie Ruzo. At the Harlem School of the Arts, Nia played the Girl Inside in George C. Wolfe's "The Colored Museum" and the Angel of the Lord in Langston Hughes' "The Black Nativity," both directed by Alred Preisser. Nia has also appeared in City College's production of "Black Girl" at Aaron Davis Hall and Pace University's production of "Finian's Rainbow." Her voiceover credits include Disney's Bank One, IBM Computers, Healthy Kids and two of Mayor Bloomberg's re-election ads. A member of St. Matthew's AME Children's Choir and a junior chorister in the Young People's Chorus of New York City headed by Fransisco Nunez, Nia has sung at the United Nations, Christmas at Lincoln Center, on ABC's Regis & Kelly, Good Morning America and on other morning news and talk shows. A freshman at the Professional Performing Arts Middle School, Nia is thrilled to be a member of The Broadway Kids!
